In an extremely shocking and unfortunate incident, a five-year-old girl lost her life after coming into contact with a live high-voltage power line. As reported by news agency PTI, the young girl, while playing on the roof of her house, came in contact with the wire, police said on Sunday.
The shocking incident took place on Saturday evening in Parsa Jungle village. As per the reports, the girl`s mother and neighbours tried to rescue her, but she had already died.
The girl named Ananya Yadav was playing on the terrace when she accidentally touched an 11,000-volt wire passing close to the roof.
After hearing her screams, her mother, Saroj Devi, rushed to rescue her. Within a few minutes neighbours also rushed near the girl; they used wooden sticks to separate the child from the wire, but she had already died by then, officials said.
While the entire locality is shocked by this unfortunate incident, police officials said that the body has been sent for post-mortem.
Mumbai: 22-year-old woman killed as cement block falls from under-construction building
In another tragic incident earlier in Mumbai’s Jogeshwari area, a 22-year-old girl lost her life after a huge brick fell on her head.
The 22-year-old Sanskriti Kotian, daughter of Anil Kotian of Kotian Caterers, left home at around 9:30 in the morning on October 8, like every day, to go to her work. On her way, suddenly, a cement block from a construction site fell on her head, killing her on the spot.
Considering that this is not just a tragedy but ignorance of the safety measures by the authorities, the last rites for Sanskriti were not performed by her family; her body has been kept in the mortuary of Balasaheb Thackeray Hospital.
The deceased’s relative Arun, while asserting about the incident, said, “We have been at Meghwadi Police Station since morning. The construction site belongs to Shraddha Developers. However, the police have not registered an FIR yet. They have just made one call to the owner of the developer group—Bhavesh Sangrahka—who told them that he is in Delhi and can come only tomorrow (Thursday).”
On the other hand, Senior PI Sudhakar Humbe told midday, “We have filed the FIR and mentioned the sections that are permitted as per law. The death happened due to negligence and not because of malicious intention. However, the family is insisting that it happened with an intention to kill. We cannot do anything that does not fit into the law. And they are not ready to sign the FIR. So, it is taking time.”
