Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader and Baramati MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The NCP (SP) leader, while writing the letter to the Chief Minister, urges immediate action over the reported admission of an accused in a drug smuggling case from Tuljapur into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Supriya Sule, in his letter to the Chief Minister, which she posted on social media account X, expressed concern after news reports surfaced that individuals from Tuljapur, including those accused in a drug-related case, were inducted into the BJP at the party’s office in the presence of senior leaders.
In her letter, Supriya Sule also wrote, “In a democratic system, every political party has the right to expand its organisation; there is no reason to disagree about it. But at the same time, everyone working in public life also has the moral responsibility to not give a foothold to any undesirable, anti-social trend; you must also agree with this.”
The NCP leader further emphasised that while every political party has the right to expand its organisation, those in public life have a moral responsibility not to support anti-social or criminal elements.
She stated that the issue demands serious attention to ensure that “drug smuggling will not be given patronage in Maharashtra” and to strengthen the state’s anti-drug campaign.
The Baramati MP further wrote, “You are the head of the state; you have many tasks ahead of you. Therefore, perhaps this news may not have reached you, or you may not have been informed about the background of the person in drug crimes. Assuming this, I am writing this letter to you. We are all with you in the fight against drugs, keeping the public interest in mind. I had informed you in this regard earlier also through a letter.”
She urged CM Fadnavis to take appropriate action against those responsible and send a positive message to society against drug-related activities.
“We expect you to pay serious attention to this incident in Tuljapur and take appropriate action against those concerned. This issue is very important to send a positive message to society that drug smuggling will not be given patronage in Maharashtra and to strengthen the anti-drug campaign. I hope you will take due note of this,” MP Supriya Sule added.
